Welcome to the Wessex branch of the British Horological Institute (BHI)

We are a local community of enthusiasts, collectors, clockmakers and watchmakers. We hold regular evening meetings on the first Wednesday of the month with guest speakers presenting talks on various horological subjects. We also hold an auction once a year providing the opportunity to acquire horological and workshop items at very attractive prices.

We welcome anyone with an interest in clocks and watches to our meetings. Check the Meetings and Events page of our website for details.

Most of us are members of the BHI, a national organisation founded in 1858 dedicated to the training of horologists in clock and watch repair and creation and supporting the horological industry. Their training facility at Upton, near Newark, offers short watchmaking and clockmaking courses designed to develop your skills, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced horologist. They also offer a Distance Learning Course. If you are interested in finding out more about the organisation, their training course programme and the benefits of membership, please visit the national website bhi.co.uk.
